What Is It? Sullivan Plumbing uses The Unico System of high-velocity air conditioning because it outperforms conventional heating and cooling systems. By utilizing a patented, high-velocity, air-flow technology, The Unico System is able to operate at 2,000 feet per minute (fpm)3.5-4 times the capacity of more typical units. Because "Hi-V" systems use half the air flow of conventional units, temperature control is achieved more quickly and with more efficiency.
Unlike conventional systems which often leave hot and cold spots as well as drafts throughout the home or building, Unico's streams of air enter a room, and gently mix with the room's existing air currents. From floor to ceiling, air temperatures are even and drafts are eliminated.
In addition, while conventional forced-air central air conditioning systems rely on large ducts to deliver cooled air to individual rooms, high-velocity systems use "mini-ducts," flexible 2-inch wide tubing that can be snaked (much like electrical wiring) between studs in walls, through closets, and in the small spaces below floors and above ceilings.
As a result, installation is easier, and involves less disruption of existing structures. The small, disc-shaped air outlets can be papered or painted to match the existing décor.
